Transcript: The impact of curriculum standards are a good way to make sure that educators are teaching the curriculum and teaching facts. In the book ‘Integrating educational technology into teaching’, it states that: digital technology has played a huge role in education today. Knowing the history of educational technology, it only helps to better our classrooms if we know how to apply it to enhance efficiency. In the past teachers have taught themes they wanted to teach with no standard. With the enforcement of a standard, it created a guideline for teachers to use. In the institution of my workplace Teachers create their own lessons and themes but based upon the standards that need to be touched upon. Fortunately for teachers, many textbooks and curriculum books are aligned with standards to comply with the demands. The impact of curriculum standards on students, especially those who travel, or move to different states have access to the same standards as others at their level, so they do not fall behind.
Balancing the demand of a standards based curriculum is hard, but the standards are the guidelines. Teachers need to get creative in creating lessons so their students are engaged and wanting to learn. When units are developed, it would be good to include as many standards including reading and writing, math, social studies, and science that are touched upon and repeated throughout the school year so all standards are met. Teachers can do this through STEM activities and lessons which can engage students in their learning. In the book, 'Integrating Technology in English Language Arts Teacher Education’, it states that teachers encourage their colleagues to utilize technology in their lessons, regularly through to promote engagement in their lessons. In addition to that, project based learning is good because you can include more standards in a student's learning.
